How we verify mentors
Nobody can be asked a question on Wisecall just by signing up. Every mentor goes through these checks first, and keeps being watched afterwards. Self-taught experts and business owners are welcome: what counts is what they have really done.
The checks, step by step
-
A real person
A government ID and a live selfie, checked by our identity partner. Mentors must be 18 or older, and the name on the ID has to match their profile.
-
Real experience
Their story, a sample answer, and at least one piece of evidence of their work: a portfolio, a website, a company, a diploma or publications. We open the links and check them.
-
Licensed where it matters
Doctors, lawyers, financial advisers and other regulated professions also give us their license, and a person checks it against the official register before approving them.
-
A person decides
An automatic review helps our team, but a person makes every rejection and every decision in regulated fields. We may also meet a mentor on a short video call.
-
Watched after approval
A new mentor's first answers are checked before you see them. Reports and low ratings are reviewed, and we can suspend a profile at once.
Verified checks
Look for these badges on a mentor’s profile:
- ID verified — Their government ID and a live selfie were checked by our identity partner.
- Experience reviewed — Their experience, evidence and a sample answer were reviewed before approval.
- License verified — Their professional license or registration was checked against the official register.
- Work email verified — They confirmed an email address at their company or institution.
- Diploma verified — Our team checked their diploma or certificate.
Regulated fields
In these fields a mentor also shows their licence or registration, and a person on our team checks it before approving them:
What we never show
We never show an ID, a license number or a document. Only the badge and the date of the check.
