Everything is optional. You never need a profile to sign up, ask a question or apply as a mentor. Add only what you want, in Settings → Profile.
What you can add. A headline and a few lines about you; your experience (positions grouped by organisation, with the time there worked out for you — months are optional, "2019 – 2022" is fine); education; licences and certifications; skills (up to 30, with 3 top skills shown on your card); how well you speak your languages; projects with a picture and a link; your journey — a timeline of milestones like "2021 — started coding"; and links (LinkedIn, website, GitHub, Behance, Instagram, YouTube). Reorder items by dragging them or with the arrows; what you type in an open form is kept in your browser until you save it.
Who sees what. Your name and photo follow "Who can open my profile". Every other part has its own setting: Everyone, Signed-in people or Only me. If you ask questions, everything starts as "Only me". Mentors start with their headline, About, experience, education, skills, languages and links public, and Journey, licences and projects private. Never put phone numbers or email addresses in your profile: we refuse them.
Verified or self-reported. What you write is self-reported. A mentor's item can carry a small Verified mark when our verification team matched it with evidence they already accepted (for example a reviewed licence or a work email at that organisation). If you change a verified item, the mark goes until it is checked again.
The profile strength bar in Settings is only for you. It suggests what to add next; we never send reminders about it.
Reporting. If a profile looks fake or offensive, use Report this profile on it. Our team can hide a part of a profile, or all of it, and tells the person why.
Your data. Your profile is included in "Download my data" and deleted with your account. Pictures are re-saved without their hidden data (like the location a photo was taken).
